Internships

As a required part of certain Master’s programs at ACM and also available to Bachelor’s students, ACM provides access to unpaid, for-credit internships at local businesses and organizations. ACM’s Internship Coordinator, Professor Pascale Schaaf, is constantly in touch with local enterprises to expand the current offerings. Oftentimes, diverse student interests and academic backgrounds will prompt the addition of new internships. In other cases, local businesses and organizations will approach ACM with opportunities.  

Master's students are encouraged to work with their program director to find internships in and out of Aix-en-Provence that align with their career goals and individual interests. They are awarded 3-4 credits upon completion. 

Bachelor’s students participate in internships within Aix and typically complete a seminar directed by the ACM Internship Coordinator in tandem with their internship experience. They meet once a week to follow their progress, learn about topical issues in French labor, and work on their reports and final semester project. Bachelor's students can expect to spend 12-15 hours per week at their internship placement along with an additional 2 hours per week in the seminar. Students are awarded 3 credits upon the successful completion of their internship.

The following Internship Opportunities table is organized by domain. Individual internships are listed below and are all located in Aix. The list is not exhaustive, and individual internships are not guaranteed for every semester. Students should contact Prof. Schaaf to confirm that a particular internship is available at a specific time.

SUPPORT - PURCHASING - ACCOUNTING

CMA CGM
Description: Global shipping group. 
Qualifications: Must be a Master's Degree student. 
Responsibilities: 35 hours/week for 6 months. Choose your area of interest: legal assistant, marketing and communications, HR assistant, maritime coordination, logistics assistant, sales assistant, accounting.

Description: Real estate agency and a nonprofit company based in France and Miami.
Qualifications: Experience in marketing, finances, and social media.

LIBRARY SCIENCE

Bibliothèque Méjanes
Description: Public Library of Aix en Provence.
Qualifications: This internship is reserved for students of the French Honors Program.
Responsibilities: The intern will be integrated into one of the Library's teams: Cultural Programming / Adults / Youth or Press-Study. They will participate in the activities of working in a library: Classifying collections (Dewey, collection), public reception (loan and return of documents on Millenium software and assistance to automated loans), participate in events: set-up, meeting with guests, participate in the reading club, and possibly organizing visits to the exhibition.

COMMERCIAL - LOCAL SHOPS

Epicerie Bio Ma Terre
Description: Organic grocery store. 
Qualifications: Strong French skills required. 
Responsibilities: Participate in the sales and development of biological baskets. 

Librairie Le Blason
Description: Librairie Le Blason is a bookstore in Aix-en-Provence, specializing in Provence, selling texts ranging from novels to photography and the arts, as well as specialized literature in wine and cooking.  Librairie Le Blason also hosts many events such as book signings, exhibitions, and contests. 
Qualifications: Strong French skills required. Looking for an open-minded intern. 
Responsibilities: Students interning at Librairie Le Blason would be responsible in participating in the day to day activities of working in the bookstore and assisting as needed.
 
Librairie Oh les Papilles
Description: Librarie Oh les Papilles is a bookstore that specializes in literature for children. The bookstore often hosts themed readings, arts & crafts workshops, and birthday parties.
Qualifications: The intern must possess a good knowledge of French, open-minded attitude, and enjoy doing activities with children.
Responsibilities: Student interns would be expected to participate in the day to day activities of the bookstore; participate in the organization of events hosted by the bookstore.


COMMERCIAL - COMPANIES AND START UPS

Centre Pure Pilates
Description: The Centre Pure Pilates studio was opened by two former dancers of Ballet Preljocaj.  They offer many fitness classes including pilates. Pure Pilates also offers many wellness services including osteopathy, massages, and chiropractic service.
Qualifications: Candidate should possess a good level of French, experience in social media. strong writing skills, and enjoy communicating with others. 
Responsibilities: Interns will be assisting in the improvement of Centre Pure Pilates’ media communication.  Interns will be responsible for improving the studio’s website, Facebook, and LinkedIn profiles.

Connected Garden
Description: Startup designed to get the real green thumb; proposing Super Sensor (IoT) and a Reality Augmented app to take care of plants.
Qualifications: Interns should have a background in social media and marketing and preferably a sensibility with the plant/garden world.
Responsibilities: Contribute to the enhancement and analyzation of the website to see if it matches the US market; serve as a Community Manager.
Language Requirements: Strong level in French preferred.

Génération Voyageurs
Description: French Side Travel/Génération Voyageurs is a new up-and-coming agency specialized in tailor-made tours in France (including Overseas Departments and Territories).
Qualifications: Candidate must be passionate about traveling, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, have the capability to work independently in a changing and challenging environment. He/she should have experience and/or knowledge in sales and marketing.
Responsibilities: Interns will develop client portfolios on English-speaking markets as well as interact with the actual agency clients. They will help update the company website in English. Interns will also assist with translation, web marketing (SEO, media communication, and promotion), and the development of sales support tools.

Groupe Mondial de transport maritime
Description: Global transportation and shipping.
Qualifications: Education background in law, must be able to commit to 30 hours/week.
Responsibilities: Logistics, communication, marketing, and human resources. Lawyer’s assistant.

OpenedMind
Description: French Marketing Institute / OpenedMind is an agency specializing in marketing studies and in measurement of service quality (for large retailers, airports concessions, etc.).
Qualifications: Candidate must be passionate about traveling and an airport environment, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and have the capability to work independently in a changing and challenging environment. He/she should have experience and/or knowledge in sales, marketing and measures of quality.
Responsibilities: Trainee will develop our panel of new European study partners  for one of our most important clients (airport concessioner) as well as interact with the current study partners. Trainee will have to negociate best practices and prices in order to prepare for 2020 cooperation. Trainee will also assist with translation and project management.

Patrimea
Description: Investment advisor in wealth management and brokerage insurance.
Qualifications: Candidates should be fluent in English. French fluency is not required. Academic experience in marketing, communications, or advertising required. Students should also be familiar with social media platforms.
Responsibilities: Interns will assist in the development of all social media platforms.

Description: The company provides workplace safety resources and training in engineering workplace environments. This internship would entail helping improve and develop the company's marketing techniques via verbal and written communication. 
Qualifications: Interns should have a background in marketing and communications media such as Skype and LinkedIn. 
Responsibilities: Develop communication and marketing goals for the international market; create media and technical notes in English that convey strategies on workplace safety. 
Language Requirements: Intermediate level of French is preferred but not mandatory. Intern must show a strong commitment to providing English translation support.

Description:  By Mademoiselle is a wedding planning agency located in Aix-en-Provence.
Qualifications: Social media, marketing, and very organized when it comes to planning events.
Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for assisting in the planning of weddings, logistics, as well as providing excellent customer services. Interns must be able to work three to four Saturdays during the semester.

Qualifications: Interns must be fluent in English and French. 
Responsibilities: Interns will participate in the design and marketing of the company Facebook page. Interns will communicate in both English and French.

onTracks

Description: The onTracks company has developed the first multi-use navigation system commanded only by vibrations! After a successful product trial for the sports industry via a crowdfunding campaign last year, the guidewatches are now available under 3 packs: Active (running, biking or hiking outdoors) Urban Mobile (motorcycling, driving, biking in cities) or Travel.
Qualifications: Interns should have a background in social media and digital advertising and preferably a sensibility with outdoor activities.
Responsibilities: Develop the digital communication for the international market of onTracks; create media, serve as a Community Manager.

Qualifications: Business, communication, journalism or graphic skills. Experience in Photoshop and Illustrator is preferable. Students must have a passion for the Internet, social media, and new technologies.

Popup House

Description: PopUp House is an innovative research and design office specialized in the construction industry. Our goal is to make passive construction easy for architects, home builders and house owners relying on digital technology to make the entire process calculable and transparent. PopUp House’s concept is straightforward: the house is assembled using light and recyclable insulating blocks and wood. Our main distinguishing features: quick and no hassle build for an affordable house, exceptional insulation.
Qualifications: We are looking for candidates who have skills in communication and should be native English speakers.

Specialities include search engine optimization (SEO), search engine advertising (SEA), webdesign, and website development.
Qualifications: Someone who can bring a touch of originality and use his/her imagination to design graphic media adapted to our clients' requests. Intern should also be able to understand French documentation and feel confident in a web agency environment.
Responsibilities: Create mock-ups of future websites requested by customers using Bootstrap Grid; create web communication media such as banners and visuals dedicated to customer sites; strongly utilize Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; create e-mailing campaigns.

Qualifications: Since thecamp is a team of entrepreneurs, the ideal candidate will be a creative-minded, self-directed individual. You’ll need to be organized and detail-oriented and, of course, passionate about entrepreneurship with purpose.

Pavillon Vendôme
Description: The Pavillon Vendôme is a historic pavilion surrounded by a French formal garden located in Aix-en-Provence, France.
Qualification: Must possess a background and passion for the arts and culture.
Responsibilities: Discover the inner functioning of museums, organize the mounting of exhibitions, translate communication documents for the public, as well as serving as the mediator between the museum and schools.

RESEARCH - BIOLOGY

BioCoop
Description: BioCoop, a network of independent natural grocery stores, is France’s leader in organic food, offering 100% product traceability and a selection of items that favor local producers within 90 miles of each location. Students will intern at the Aix-en-Provence store and restaurant, which recently was acquired by an American entrepreneur. BioCoop’s short-term goals are to establish strong financial controls and to focus on new product development, all while looking to open a second location near Aix.
Qualifications: Candidate should possess some business knowledge (academic or job experience). French language skills are not required but would be beneficial.
Responsibilities: The mission of the internship focuses on three main areas: sales and inventory analysis, financial forecasting (near and medium-term), and the development of a business plan for the second location.

Qualifications: Candidate must have experience in HR and administrative functions. Strong background in French is required.
Responsibilities: Interns will update the job description for all employees (engineers). Interns will also assist HR Business Partners in the recruitment and training sessions.

Description: The Green Ribbon theater offers courses in theater, temporary exhibitions, temporary markets, concerts, and plays.
